About Me

My name is Lakiah Olson (they/she) and I am a queer birth worker in Portland, Oregon. My love for supporting postpartum families was inspired from my many years as a newborn and infant nanny and my own trauma healing journey. In a society that places so much emphasis on babies I began to see how many parents were truly suffering and not being given the support they were desperately in need of.

My goal as a postpartum doula is to nurture those who create life and to shift the focus back onto them by providing them with the opportunities to tap into their own innate wisdom and remind them in every waking moment how much THEY matter. I’m very passionate about mental health and how that is impacted both individually and systemically, supporting survivors of various traumas, and practicing harm reduction throughout my life. I have experience with multiples, postpartum mood disorders, medically fragile babies and babies born with disabilities. For your safety, I am fully vaccinated and boosted and continue to wear PPE in my daily life and during our visits for your family’s protection.

I am certified in pediatric CPR and first aid, have completed multiple postpartum doula trainings and continue to educate myself through other learning opportunities so I may best serve all postpartum people. I am a proud postpartum doula with Brave Birth Doula Collective, a community of doulas and birth workers passionate about serving families and providing them with the care they deserve.
